SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH

Today was a busy but wonderful day. After our 10am service at Collingwood Nursing Home, we went to Our Elders Seniors Residence in Stayner for our second service. We were able to bless these residents with a wonderful basket of muffins and other pastries thanks to Gayle Woods owner of Goodies Cafe in Wasaga Beach. Our last service of the day was at Blue Mountain Manor at 2pm where we opened with about 10minutes of instrumental music. The theme of the message today was "GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME; ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD. It is always exciting to share the Salvation Message with our senior friends. We believe that many have made a decision for Christ as a result of this ministry. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE at COLLINGWOOD NURSING HOME

All the residents were lined up and waiting for the weekly church service. This was the Sunday before Christmas so our theme was centered on the birth of Jesus. Florence read the Christmas story from the scriptures and then shared a message of hope and salvation. We all sang carols and ended by wishing each person a Very Merry and Blessed Christmas.

NOVEMBER 11th - REMEMBERANCE DAY SERVICES

Ross and Florence were away this weekend so we invited Bruce Pike to speak and Doreen Vanderhaden to play the piano. As this was November 11th, our theme was remembering those who gave so much. Many of the residents at Collingwood Nursing Home wore their poppies and some shared after the service about bothers and sisters who served and died in WW2. Bruce shared about his uncle who died when his plane was shot down over Norway. It was a wonderful morning and many repeated the sinners prayer at the end of both services. Praise the Lord.

OCTOBER 27TH - BUSY SUNDAY

This weekend was a busy one, Christian Fellowship Breakfast yesterday morning and three services today. We missed Ross who is at present out in British Columbia visiting his family and we'll be glad to see him back for next weekend. The final service today was 2pm at Blue Mountain Manor in Stayner. HEAVEN REJOICES

Today was a very exciting day for Gospel Outreach Ministry. We held the first service at Collingwood Nursing Home, drove to Stayner for our second service at Our Elders and then after lunch held the third service at Blue Mountain Manor also in Stayner. Between the three facilities, over 60 seniors heard the message of salvation and had the opportunity to receive Jesus into their hearts. Many repeated the sinners prayer and we believe that along with us, the angels in heaven were rejoicing. Praise the Lord.

BUSY TIMES

We have been very busy over the summer with regular Sunday services at various nursing and retirement homes along with four week night hymn sings. Florence has also held many week day services preaching and sharing the word at nursing homes. We had the privilege of singing at Stayner Jubilee Presbyterian Church in August and will be singing and leading worship at the Christian Fellowship Breakfast meeting on Saturday September 29th at Goodies Cafe in Wasaga Beach. We are very excited at the doors God is opening for us to share His message of salvation.

BUSY SUMMER CONTINUES

Although at this time of year many people are away vacationing, Gospel Outreach has continued ministering to the folks in the Retirement and Nursing Homes. John has been unable to attend some Monday night meetings due to his new part time job, but has now managed to shorten his Monday shift so that in the future he will be able to be with Ross and Florence at these events. Today we ministered at Collingwood Nursing Home at 10am, Our Elders Retirement Home at 11am and Blue Mountain Manor Retirement Residence at 2pm. Over 50 seniors heard the message preached by Florence and were given the opportunity to receive Jesus into their hearts. Ross and John have started to include trombone and trumpet in the music mix and it seems to be well received. (JDL)

NOTTAWA UNITED CHURCH OUTDOOR CONCERT

This June 10th outdoor event was a huge success with constant music from 12.30 to 6.30. Each group had 25 minutes to present their music. The weather was absolutely perfect and the afternoon was topped off with barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs and various salads.

MAY - A BUSY MONTH

This month has proven to be a very busy month again with evening hymn sing concerts at four different facilities on top of our usual Sunday service schedule. This month we are also leading the worship on May 26th for the Christian Fellowship Breakfast at Goodies Cafe in Wasaga Beach and preparing for an outdoor concert to be held in June at the United Church in Nottawa . A new part of the music ministry has been the addition of trombone and trumpet. This makes for a nice addition, although it has proven to make some seniors who have hearing aids wince and others wake from an otherwise restful sleep. We have found that the old hymns are most popular as a very large number of residents know them from their younger days. It is great to see them singing along and we believe this opens their hearts to hear and receive the gospel message preached by Pastor Florence.

MOTHERS DAY SERVICES

Mothers Day was the theme and we were all excited that a resident accepted Jesus into her life. 'Praise the Lord'. Later that day we shared the same music and message with the residents of Our Elders Retirement Home in Stayner.

NOTTAWA UNITED CHURCH CONCERT GREAT SUCCESS

The evening was a huge success and it was such a pleasure for us to share the stage with Catherine Walker and her Georgian Girls. They are indeed a great singing group and their music covers a wide range of styles. Keep up the good work 'girls'.

April 2007 Schedule

April appears to be starting off as a very busy month.
There are 5 Sundays this month so the first 4 we will be holding our regular Worship Services at Collingwood Nursing Home @ 10am and at Our Elders Retirement Home @ 2pm. On the 5th Sunday we will be at Collingwood Nursing Home @ 10am and at Blue Mountain Retirement Home @ 2pm. We will also be holding Monday evening hymn sings at Sunset Manor on the 2nd, Leisureworlds Caregiving Centre on the 9th, Collingwood Nursing Home on the 16th, and Blue Mountain Manor on the 23rd.

On Wednesday April 18th we have agreed to sing at a monthly music evening run by the Nottawa United Church. (Photo below) We will be performing along with the Georgian Girls, lead by Catherine Walker. This event is from 7.30 - 9pm and refreshments are served afterwards. Cost is $5.00

Ministry opportunities keep on coming

The 10am worship service at Collingwood Nursing Home and 2pm service at Our Elders Retirement Home has become a part of our regular Sunday schedule for quite a while now. It is wonderful to see so many residents attending each week. We believe this to be a very important time in their lives as they hear the gospel message, and have an opportunity to ask Jesus into their hearts. For many this has made an eternal change of destiny. Just recently Ross had the opportunity to lead an elderly gentleman to the Lord. That same man died a couple of weeks later. This past Friday morning we were asked to lead a service at Sunset Manor and about 70 residents attended. Also from time to time we hold a 3.30pm service in an disabled lady's home in Wasaga Beach. She invites her neighbours to attend and so another opportunity has come about for the gospel message to be shared, through music and the preaching of God's word.

On the last Sunday of each month, we hold an afternoon Worship Service at Blue Mountain Manor retirement home.
There are about 20 residents who attend this service on a regular basis. Music plays an important part in each service and we have found that most seniors love the old hymns. We try to incorporate some gospel music along with hymns as well as a message of salvation preached by Rev.Florence.
